Wrapping 2025

In 2025, Rayon evolved into the effortless CAD our industry has long been waiting for.

What was a powerful, standalone drafting tool in late 2024 has now matured into a complete design environment — where traditional CAD capabilities seamlessly merge with the everyday needs of interior designers and architects: scheduling, specifying, producing presentations, editing images and text, and communicating ideas with clarity.

Before stepping into 2026, let’s take a moment to look back at the major milestones that shaped this transformation.

Main features

Throughout 2025, we focused on three foundational areas that unlock more of the real work designers do: tables, AI, and layout & presentations. Because interior architecture is far more than vector editing — it’s about documenting spaces, conveying design vision, organizing specifications, and making decisions backed by data. Rayon is now built around this full spectrum.

Tables — This year, we completely reimagined Rayon’s data layer. Designers can now attach structured information to anything inside a drawing — images, categories, finishes, pricing, formulas, and more. These properties can be filtered, sorted, and aggregated into intelligent tables and schedules, ready to be placed directly into drawings or presentation documents. Rayon is no longer just a tool to draw space; it’s a tool to understand it.

AI — 2025 also marked the arrival of AI in Rayon. As the industry enters a pivotal new era, we embraced the opportunity to weave intelligent assistance into core workflows. Our AI panel helps users move faster — from smart advices to generative capabilities such as automated block creation, instant floor plan styling, and image generation. Designers remain in control. AI simply removes friction.

Layout & presentations — We reconceived what it means to publish “documents” from a CAD tool. This year, we introduced a full suite for page layouts: paper canvases, views, rich typographic tools, etc. Designers can now produce and share polished work — as high-fidelity PDFs or live, continuously updated presentation links. This has already transformed how Rayon users communicate with clients, contractors, and collaborators.

Key upgrades

Beyond major feature launches, 2025 was also a year dedicated to refining the core of the Rayon experience. We focused on smoothing the transition from legacy workflows, reducing switching costs, and deepening the capabilities professional teams rely on every day — from commands and annotations to libraries and interoperability. Our goal: ensure that moving to Rayon isn’t just exciting — it’s easy, familiar, and immediately productive.

Improved export experience — New modal, range, and magnifier, more to come

History panel — Ability to better browse model versions, to save and name a snapshot.

DWG compatibility — Support added for XREF, for dynamic blocks, for more kinds of AutoCAD primitives, for AutoCAD shortcuts.

Deepened toolbox — Divide, bucket, break, array, etc

Better annotation — Revision clouds, more styling options for leaders and dimensions, angular dimensions, etc

Improved libraries — Filtering options, improved card design, etc.

Improved text options — 1000+ fonts, more styling options (bold/italic/underline), hyperlinks, etc.

Parametric blocks — New libraries of parametric blocks and ability to create parametric blocks from scratch.

The unspoken fixes

We would like now to pay a tribute to all the tiny things that the team shipped this year, and that made our users' life much (much) smoother. To only list some of them…

  • New override option on blocks.
  • New ability to swap block instances in place.
  • New community website
  • New academy website
  • Revamped import flow
  • Zoom mode for presentations
  • Improved metadata (model-level properties, style properties, and inheritance)
  • Background for hatches
  • Make unique
  • Loop mode on commands
  • AutoCAD-like shortcuts
  • New import modal
  • New custom properties panel & category property
  • Gradients
  • French translation
  • Page as lists
  • New tiling mode
  • New command line search for blocks
  • More entity types supported in tables (block definition, primitives, layer, styles)
  • Reference panel
  • New academia plan for students
  • List in texts
  • 5000+ blocks, 150+ templates and 50+ tutorial added to Rayon’s ecosystem.

Much more small and big updates were done this year; we refer our readers to our documentation product update page to read more about it.

Hearing from you

2026 is upon us, and with it, a brand new challenge: building Rayon’s next stage. We have a lot of things in mind, but we would like to hear from you, and get your take on what you think should be Rayon’s next step. We know that a lot of you have a fairly opinionated vision of how you think the software could best help you, so here is a link to let us know your thoughts. Drop us a line!
